Alix, Founder of Hello Finances
For a long time, I followed the route I had been given: work hard, earn well, build the life you can afford. Then get promoted, earn more, spend more. Until I paused and asked myself: what changes if I start aligning my money with my goals and values?
For almost a decade I have been building my own financial freedom – one small step at a time, far from perfect, but making steady progress. When I started sharing what I learned with friends and family, I realised how much of a difference simple, clear frameworks and practical tools can make. Seeing the transformation in people made me want to share it more widely.
Hello Finances exists to pass on that knowledge and build confidence in women, and everyone else, who is ready to feel calmer, clearer, and in control of their money.
Start where you are. Go as deep as you like.

Why it mattersYou are not behind,
the system is
In all the conversations I had, one thing stood out: barely anyone is getting the most out of their money, no matter how much they earn. The truth is, our economy isn’t designed to help us build the life we want. Instead, we are surrounded by marketing, raised in a culture that equates buying with self-care, and expected to figure it out ourselves because financial literacy isn't taught in schools.
For women, structural forces add another dimension. The motherhood penalty and gender pay gap mean less to invest, and less time for that money to grow. Add a financial industry that tailors its education to a male audience, and the result is a wealth gap that reaches almost 40% by pension age. Not because women are less capable - because the system was not built for them.
Regaining a sense of control starts with awareness and education. The ripple effects will reach far beyond our own wellbeing, touching our families, friends, and wider communities. In fact, for society to flourish, our financial resilience matters. It anchors us to our values, gives us space to reflect, and allows us to make decisions that are truly our own.
Money can't buy happiness. But it can buy you choices.
Time – write that book, spend afternoons with your kids, travel the world, or retire early.
Independence – the freedom to change career, choose where you want to live, leave that toxic work environment, or support the causes close to your heart.
Equality – feeling empowered to manage your own finances, grow your own money, and make well informed choices.
Financial freedom shouldn't be a privilege. It should be common practice. And it starts smaller than you think, with awareness, education, and one step at a time.
Money isn't the goal. Money is a tool to achieve your goals, and ultimately give you more choices. And financial education is the key that unlocks it.
What financial awareness and clarity can give you
If any of this sounds
familiar,
you are in the right place.
You earn well and still wonder where it all goes.
You have a good job, your salary gets paid into your account every month. Yet, you are not building wealth intentionally.
You're spending your time working to pay for a life you didn't choose.
You think you are supposed to live (and love) the life you can afford. Yet, it doesn’t feel quite right.
You've never been taught money as a tool.
You were taught to earn money and spend it. But no one showed you how to invest in your future to open up more choices.
You have tried different things, nothing quite worked.
You have tried apps, spreadsheets, and saving pots. And yet, somehow nothing has really shifted.
